BEGINNING FUSING
Class dates to be announced. Classes are
three evenings. The first class day you will learn about different
types of glass, materials used to color and texturize glass,
safety, basic tools and supplies, cutting glass, grinding
glass, preparing the kiln, stress in glass, molds and materials
for molds, how to control shape during the fusing process
(volume control), and the difference between a tack fuse and
a full fuse. At the end of the class you will make a small
item such as soap dish, coasters, or small platter and a large
platter. The second day you will take your item out of the
kiln, go over annealing, firing schedules, and other variables
related to kiln firing. At the end of class you will
design and make a square or round platter using one of the
techniques demonstrated in class. The third day of class
you will put round or square platter into kiln for first firing.
You will also learn about mold materials, release agents,
devitrification, testing for correct anneal with filters and
problem solving. You will be invited to share with other
class members one concept learned during the 3-day workshop
or something learned at other workshop. A few days after the
last class you will pick up your finished glass art piece.
Tools and supplies: For this class, you will need to purchase or bring with you the following: paper, pencil, glass cutter, running pliers, grosing pliers, gloves, and safety glass. Glass cutters, running pliers, grosing pliers, Glasstar Snappers, gloves can be purchased at Fused Glass Station prior to workshop. Registration price includes glass used for projects and all other tools and supplies.

BEGINNING STAINED GLASS
Class dates to be announced. This three night course will
teach you the Tiffany copper foil method of stained glass
(made popular by the windows and lamps of Louis Tiffany).
No previous experience is required. A project will be completed
during this time. You will need to purchase your tools before
the class starts. Classes must be paid for in full prior to
the start of your first day in order to reserve your place.
Registration includes the glass for your project and
a few tools. (Flux, brush, foil, fid, workboard, pins, wire
brass brush, cleaning supplies, patina) You will need to purchase
or bring the following:
Soldering Iron (between 80-150 watts) with chisel type tip at least 3/8” wide (ceramic core is best)
Reostat (temperature control)
Soldering Iron Stand
Solder (canfield is best) 60/40
* Glass cutter (oil filled is best)
* Breaking Pliers
Foil Pattern Shears
Sharpie-black
Small baby-food size jar
(Optional: Sal Ammoniac Block, Running Pliers)

The other items may be purchased at Gordon's Glass in Logan.
Day one: You will be introduced to the basic tools and chemicals
we will be using and how to use them. You will practice cutting
glass and finally put your pattern on your glass and cut your
glass for our project.
Day two: You will grind your glass to your pattern, wash
and mark your pieces, and begin to foil your project.
We will discuss different glass grinders and foils.
Day three: You will learn about flux and how to make a nice
solder bead. We will discuss different colors of patina and
cleaning agents and the Sal Ammoniac Block. You will
solder your project, clean, patina, wax and admire your finished
project!
